About Peter Briggs Insurance

Founded in 1961 by Peter Briggs, the Peter Briggs Insurance Agency has been an important member of the Southeastern Massachusetts business community for many years. Initially working out of his house, Peter Briggs then moved his business to its current location at 19 County Rd. Mattapoisett in 1968. Slowly growing his business, one customer at a time, in 1984, his nephew David Perkins was brought into the business after graduating from Northeastern University. In 1987, the agency was further expanded with the hiring of Andrew Wingate, previously a manager with the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. In 1989, with the retirement of Peter Briggs, David and Andrew assumed ownership of the agency.

In 2002, the agency was admitted to Insurance Services of New England, (ISNE). ISNE, is a very select group of insurance agencies committed to providing a high standard of professionalism and independent service to the insurance buying public. Through our membership with ISNE, we are able to access most of the top insurance companies offering coverage in Massachusetts. This enables us to do the shopping for our customers to obtain the best coverage and pricing. Today, the average experience of the Peter Briggs Insurance Agency’s employees averages more than 16 years.
